CUSTOM AND OFF-THE-SHELF BRACING
Our team at OWC is happy to announce we are offering custom as well as off-the-shelf Össur bracing at our clinic. Patients are able to meet with Leah, our designated fitter, to discuss Össur product options for specific conditions including hip and knee Osteoarthritis, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, and many more. We will have various off-the-shelf braces at the clinic to be purchased and fitted.
Why choose bracing?
Braces have revolutionized the way individuals approach pain management and injury or surgery recovery. They provide patients with a wearable device that allows them to move and function optimally while keeping their bones, joints and ligaments protected. Overall, bracing – especially custom – covers all the bases in terms of injury prevention and pain relief. Our bracing options can help with hip and knee Osteoarthritis (OA), plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel and much more.
Our Bracing Options
We have many bracing options available at our clinic, please continue reading below for an outline of our current selection of bracing options to suit your unique and individualized needs.

Unloader One®
The Unloader One® is a custom knee brace designed to reduce knee pain associated with Osteoarthritis and improve mobility. It uses a patented 3-point Leverage System with a single hinge and strap system to unload the affected knee joint. Unloader One can be worn during average to high-impact activities.

Formfit® Tracker
The Formfit® Tracker is used for realigning the patella and providing sufficient support for patellofemoral pathologies and instabilities. Its low-profile design and breathability minimizes migration and increases comfort with wear throughout day-to-day activities.

Formfit® Ankle with Speedlace
The Formfit® Ankle with Speedlace allows for stability and protection of the joint. It is typically used for chronic instability, post-injury or prophylactically. Its quick lace design fits easily into shoes and the durable strap system provides additional support to control inversion/eversion.

Formfit® Tennis Elbow
The Formfit® Tennis Elbow ergonomic and durable design reduces pain related to tennis (lateral epicondylitis) and golfer’s (medial epicondylitis) elbow. It is suitable for everyday wear as well as for athletic activities. The ribbed cushions counteract the pulling force on the tendons to help reduce inflammation and increase comfort.

Formfit® Universal Wrist
The Formfit® Universal Wrist brace was created to restrict wrist movement and protect the joint from soft tissue injuries. The brace features a quick-pull close strap, a malleable palmar stay and a positional dorsal stay. It is typically used for those with mild to moderate sprains and strains, post-cast healing, tendonitis and other soft tissue conditions.
Did you know?
Custom and off-the-shelf bracing can be covered under extended health coverage. Before purchasing, discuss with your insurance company to see what your coverage entails.
Steps to Obtaining a Brace
Think you would benefit from custom or off-the-shelf bracing? Follow the steps below to get started!
Step 1: Initial Assessment
The initial assessment will include a consultation with our designated brace fitter, Leah, and a representative from Ossur. We will go over your medical history and discuss your current goals for wearing a brace. During this first visit, various brace options will be considered and measurements will be taken for the final dispensed brace.
Step 2: Quote Letter and Insurance Inquiry
To ensure the cost of the brace is covered under extended health benefits, we will provide you with a quote letter and any other documentation necessary to provide to your insurance company. You must submit the invoice and supplementary documentation on your own as we cannot directly bill for this service. Prior to your appointment you can check your policy and see what the terms of your coverage are. Off-the-shelf and custom braces have separate coverage and are typically found under “medical equipment” or “medical supplies”.
Step 3: Order and Fitting
Once we have received your brace you will be booked in for a fitting appointment where we discuss how to properly don/doff the device, care instructions and ensure the brace fits properly. We will receive payment and provide you an invoice for proof of purchase.
