Many women suffer from musculoskeletal pain during and/or after their pregnancy, especially low back pain, with 50-80% of women reporting back pain during pregnancy and 50-75% during labor. Not wanting to take medication and unsure of what to do about their pain, many expectant moms just live with it. At the Oshawa Wellness Centre, we offer treatment options to support your pre & post natal healthcare needs.
You know what they say; a mother knows best!
All of my visits to receive treatment from Dr. Camastra have been exceptional. From the moment you enter the clinic, you are greeted by Kelsey who is fantastic on the administrative end (booking appointments, submitting claims to insurance, etc.). Dr. Camastra has treated me during pregnancy and in my post natal stage. I will continue to see her for treatments as I have seen improvements for the various issues I have had. She shows care and compassion. She is also very well versed in infant chiropractic care, and I feel so safe bringing my son to her. Dr. Camastra runs a GrowCo course designed for the physical rehabilitation of post-natal women, and I recommend this to anyone who has birthed a child. She is so knowledgeable and the course provides an opportunity to strengthen areas of the body that are affected in pregnancy and birth.
I started seeing Dr. Camastra when I was in my 3rd trimester. I was having extreme pelvic pain and she was able to help me through it while also providing useful strategies to get me through the remainder of the pregnancy.
15 weeks postpartum is when the Growco program started. Adhering to covid rules, each attendee wore a mask and kept 6 ft + a part. The classes were wonderful, not just in being able to be around other women, but the exercises, bedside manner and care that Dr. Camastra demonstrated was as professional as could be. She was so empathetic with us, and so great when my daughter was being fussy. Dr. Camastra again shared tips and accelerated exercises for when we feel stronger and more capable at home.
Having Dr. Camastra as my chiropractor and as an advocate for healthy healing these past several months has been very refreshing, especially during these hard times. A professional through and through!
The GROWCO class was awesome! It was a great way to get moving and aid in healing postpartum. It was challenging without feeling overwhelming. I will definitely do it again after any future pregnancies!
Brought my 2 month old in for treatment as she was having difficulty feeding. Dr. Camastra was very gentle. I was able to see improvement in my daughter after just one treatment and continued treatments have made a world of difference. I HIGHLY recommend!

According to recent studies, women receiving Chiropractic care:
- Have an easier pregnancy including increased comfort during the third trimester and delivery and reduced need for pain medication.
- In their first pregnancy, they have a 24% reduction in labor times and those giving birth for the second or third time reported a 39% reduction in shorter labor times.
- Have a 50% reduced need for analgesics (pain medication) and report relief of back pain during pregnancy with chiropractic care (84% of subjects in the study).

Are there targeted chiropractic treatments for pregnant people?
Physical changes that a pregnant person undergoes can cause pressure on the spine. The pelvis also has a chance of becoming misaligned as pelvic joints loosen up in preparation for childbirth. If the pelvis is misaligned, it can impede the baby from entering the correct position for delivery in the case of natural birth, this is a condition known as an intrauterine constraint and can lead to the Cesarean section. The Webster Technique, a chiropractic technique that helps maintain the pelvis and spine in proper alignment may prevent the need for Cesarean delivery. There are other benefits of going to a chiropractor when pregnant, including:
- Fewer breech births
- Less nausea
- Reduced back and neck pain
- Relief of muscle and joint pain
- Reduced anxiety
- Improved labor outcomes, which includes reduced time in labor and delivery
